At the 1919 Peace Regatta, the Australian Army crew won the King’s Cup, presented by King George V.

That original trophy is now awarded annually to the fastest State crew in Australia.

With the kind permission of Her Majesty the Queen, Patron of Henley Royal Regatta, military crews in 2019 will be competing for a newly commissioned King’s Cup and a presentation sword. The cup will remain at Regatta, the sword will be engraved with the winning crew and their Chief’s name and be presented in a subsequent ceremony.

Commemorative medals will be awarded to all crews and their military leaders at subsequent events in each Nation after the event.

A commemoration sword will be retained at Henley Royal Regatta in perpetuity, listing the military leaders who witnessed their crew race.

All prizes will contain hugely significant contributions from each of the competing nations contributions including from two Royal Households, America’s first President, Canada’s first Parliament and Australia’s War Memorial.

More detail is to be announced.
